Recommend the Drummie to Tomnaverie walk. It can be extended to take in Old town walk and on the way make sure to look at the new View point built for the MacRobert Trust by Dave Bullock. It is brilliant and looks out towards Lochnagar.
Introduced this walk to Carolyn on Monday evening and it was clear visibility so Lochnagar was spectacular from the View point. She walked it again on her own on Tuesday and we hope she will be free to join the Wednesday Walking for Health walk tonight (Wed) Rita
The all ability paths in Alastrean Woods are great for mobility scooters. They have been tried and tested and the surface and the camber are really good.
When I was younger I used to cycle around Tarland in what I called Tour De Tarland (ah memories) and over the years these cycle rides gre to going round Alastrean House and round the Knockie (right spelling?).
There are so many routes to cycle on, and so much to see. I find it best to make up your own cycle rides as you go so you get to see as much of the beautiful countryside as possible.
There are cycle routes in the pipe line. The idea is to use quiet roads and some off road routes as cycleways – as opposed to actual mountain biking.
There is also a proposal to make a route to Aboyne which does not follow the main road from Tarland to Aboyne. It would be a safer route and might be a bit shorter.
